‘Challenging Behaviour After ABI’

This workshop will give an overview of the factors that impact on behaviour after ABI, management strategies and options for further assistance.

Topics include:

  • Challenging behaviour defined
  • How can ABI lead to challenging behaviour
  • What things trigger and maintain behaviours
  • ‘Golden Rules’ of behaviour management
  • Case studies

This session is suitable for workers who are currently working with clients in a variety of settings e.g. case managers, mental health and disability staff, accommodation service staff, allied health, rehabilitation workers, nurses etc. Trainer: Jan Loewy from the ‘ABI Behaviour Consultancy’.

Capturing the Impact of Welfare to Work - Getting ready for 1 July

The Australian Government’s changes to income support and employment assistance come into effect from 1 July 2006.

The community and welfare sectors must be ready to capture the impact of the changes on the people we represent and assist.

The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations, with the Australian and Victorian Councils of Social Service, invite you to a forum about developing ways to monitor the impact of Welfare to Work.

The forum will particularly focus on the collection of case studies.

This session is an opportunity to get together with a group of workers to discuss working with clients and situations that are challenging. It is an opportunity to brainstorm and come up with some practical solutions and strategies. The session will be facilitated and guided by Jan Loewy from the ‘ABI Behaviour Consultancy’. Depending on demand, a further session may be able to be arranged as a follow up.
